Biorepository - Home
The mission of the Cancer Center Biorepository is to provide high quality, well-characterized cancer-related human tissue specimens and biological materials to the membership of the UC Davis Cancer Center and their collaborators. The Biorepository works closely with Cancer Center members to determine their needs and process the appropriate specimens for scientific use.
This facility offers several advantages over other national specimen repositories. They include:
  1. Specimens are processed according to researcher specifications.
  2. The location at the University of California Davis Medical Center is convenient.
  3. Surgical pathologists oversee the tissue procurement.
  4. De-identified clinical information is available.
  5. Investigators, surgeons, clinicians, oncologists and surgical pathologists have opportunities for collaboration.
Skilled personnel work with surgeons, pathologists, and researchers to maximize the scientific value of the acquired tissue without compromising diagnostic processing. The pathologist leader oversees designation of diagnostic histologic sections so investigators can correlate pathologic features with their data. In addition, the Biorepository provides investigators access to histopathologic parameters available from the final diagnostic report while preserving individual patient confidentiality.
