Epidemiologist of Smoking Dr. Leistikow is interested in quantifying smoking-related injuries and other burdens, tobacco control/smoking prevention and cessation, healthcare worker diseases, and diseases of animal confinement workers. He is a member of the GGE as his studies have focused on the epidemiology of smoking. Dr. Leistikow's creative achievements have demonstrated that smoking is a likely cause of a substantial fraction of individual injuries and major industrial fire and explosion disasters based on cohort, randomized controlled trial, forensic, and other evidence. His current research interests include studying the leading unaddressed tolls from smoking, smoking-attributable industrial disasters and injuries to smokers and innocent bystanders, smoking-attributable survivors insurance and other taxes, smoking-attributable infections and hospital employee health.
